HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced on March 23 that key executives visited the Ingalls Shipyard of Huntington Ingalls Industries in Mississippi, USA, on April 22. This visit followed the signing of a “Memorandum of Understanding for Enhancing Ship Productivity and Advanced Shipbuilding Technology Cooperation” between the two companies on April 7. The collaboration aims to leverage advanced shipbuilding technologies and improve productivity in naval construction.
During their visit, Ju Won-ho, head of the Special Ship Division at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, along with other executives, engaged in discussions with Huntington Ingalls executives about future cooperation plans. They toured the expansive Ingalls Shipyard, renowned as the largest surface shipbuilding yard in the United States. This facility plays a pivotal role in constructing naval vessels for the U.S. Navy, including two-thirds of recently ordered Aegis destroyers and all large landing ships and patrol vessels.
Brian Blanchette, president of Ingalls Shipyard, stated, “This visit is an extension of the important discussions ongoing between Huntington Ingalls and its global partners.”
Ju commented, “Through this visit, we were able to observe how Ingalls Shipyard utilizes technology to enhance efficiency and quality.”
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, a publicly listed South Korean shipbuilder, holds a prominent global position due to its extensive capabilities in constructing commercial ships, offshore structures, and naval ships.
