PEX 2 service, offers fast, reliable transit times and provides shippers with a time, cost and emissions efficient route into the north of England. The ABP operated Hull Container Terminal (HCT), sited on the north bank of the Humber Estuary, has had significant investment of over £55m over the years, including upgrading of equipment and improved landside operations.
The terminal is complemented by the container terminal at the Port of Immingham, which together welcome 24 vessels a week. Between them they handle more than 5,500 units per week.
Paul Litten, Head of Commercial (Humber) said: “This latest service addition demonstrates again how ABP’s Humber ports are the ports of choice for those seeking the combination of proximity to Europe allied with experienced operational teams and well invested assets. With more connections coming online each month, Hull continues to show its strength as a vital and sustainable gateway for trade between the UK and North Europe.”
Iain Barnett, Commercial Manager (Unitised) said: “Ellerman City Liners’ expanding network is bringing increased frequency and connectivity options for shippers utilising the Humber Ports. We welcome Ellerman City Liners to Hull and look forward to developing our partnership”
The Poland–UK Express complements Ellerman’s existing weekly Viasea call into the Port of Immingham. Ellerman acquired Viasea, the Norwegian shortsea operator, in November 2025.
The new service creates additional transhipment opportunities and expands the Humber’s links with Northern Europe and global markets.
Peter Andrews, Commercial Director of Ellerman City Liners, said: “Shifting the UK call to Hull is a clear win for both UK importers and Polish exporters. It brings cargo closer to core distribution corridors, cutting inland legs and improving planning predictability.”The Ports of Hull and Immingham are the leading northern England gateways for short sea container traffic with Europe and the Baltic, offering flexibility, value added services an excellent road and rail access.
